What’s New at the Casas

What's New

Many new items added: new super comfy pillow-top mattresses in all the houses - a far cry from the foam rubber pads in other hotels and vacation homes. Also new toaster ovens, high-count cotton sheets, new barbecue for the Rancho counter and a refrigerator in the Rancho. Plus new hard wood cabinets - by our local woodworker, Yens, to replace some open shelving in the kitchens. Also other amenities like a hammock, folding chairs, beach mats, beach towels, Frisbees, ice chests and blue ice to take to the beach. We try hard to make your stay  comfortable and carefree .

Guests now receive a Welcome Basket of  fresh ground Costa Rican coffee, cream and sugar, a liter of 100% orange juice, cookies and a bottle of Costa Rica’s famous Salsa Lizano. And a small  gift from our glass fusing kiln. Our thanks for choosing us.

Many new plantings include Cordelaine, Croton, Papaya, Noni and coffee. An Agave has decided to go to seed - happens only every few years.  When we bought the property in 2000, it was dried grass. A little water to go along with the sun and the trees and lush plants that have come in 9 years have been amazing to watch. Monkeys can actually cross the property now.

Our new glass fusing kiln arrived. We make fused glass art pieces. If interested in a private lesson contact us.     Make a keepsake of your Costa Rican vacation.

There’s our new puppy Miga looking for something to chase.

Lavae continues to volunteer  teaching English to the elementary kids at Santo Domingo School.

●Samara finally has a  recycling program started so that we can separate plastics and other recyclables out of the     garbage stream. Also spent batteries and used appliances are being taken . Great news for the village.

● There’s the new barbecue waiting for someone’s steak, burger or fish fillet. Just completed is a new culvert at the entrance to the property to handle the gush of water that sometimes comes down the street in a Costa Rican rain storm.
